A French-Themed Spring Concert

Spring has sprung and there's no more picturesque a place than 'Paris Au Printemps'. Bringing the city's riot of color, fragrance and musical hustle bustle to Texas, the San Antonio Symphony welcomes international piano virtuoso and conductor Jefferey Kahane to lead them in a positively francophilic program as part of the ensemble's second Spring Festival Concert - the Flavours Of France. 

Alongside performances of Darius Milhaud's jazzy ballet La Creation Du Monde, Maurice Ravel's similarly jazz-inflected Concerto in G Major for Piano and Orchestra and Louis-Hector Berlioz's lush romantic symphony dramatique 'Scene d'amour from Romeo et Juliet', the symphony gives a stunning rendition of Claude Debussy's La Mer, a richly evocative milestone of impressionism in music that depicts the sea in flurries of tonal colour and stormy instrumentation.
