The Majestic Theatre is both the oldest and largest atmospheric theatre in San Antonio. It was designed by architect John Eberson for Karl Hoblitzelle's Interstate Theatres. It was for several years, the largest theatre in Texas, as well as the second largest movie theatre in the United States. It was also the first completely air-conditioned theatre in the state. In 1975, the theatre was featured on the National Register of Historical Places and was named a National Historic Landmark in 1993.
